SURROUNDINGS

The territory in which the la Dimora del Conicchio is situated has many places to visit. This area, full of passion and history will be able to satisfy all your needs: beach, countryside, nature, art, relax, sporting activities, giving you emotions that you will not forget.

CAPALBIO

You can reach it by foot in only 20 minutes, following the countryside path that passes in front of the home (by car in not more than 5 minutes). This enchanting medieval village dominates the territory with its castle and the walls that withhold the ancient walking area from which you have a beautiful panoramic view.

BURANO OASIS

The Burano Lake is populated with many rare birds and sweet and salt-water fish. Considered first oasis by the WWF, it is 5 minutes by car. For visits contact +39 (0)564 898829.

BEACHES

The beaches of Capalbio are 10 minutes away by car, cover about 12 km of coastline and thanks to the work carried out by the WWF are perfectly preserved, with an uncontaminated and crystalline sea. There are both beach resorts and 6 km of free beach areas delimitated by the Mediterranean maquis.

THE GARDEN OF THE TAROTS

Artistic Park situated on the Garavicchio Hill, 5km from the home. Designed by the French artist Niki de Saint Phalle, it is an original and fantastic artwork with sculptures 12/15 metres high, covered by mosaic and inspired by the 22 major arcanes of the tarots.

FENIGLIA BEACH AND NATURAL RESERVE

20 km from the la Dimora del Conicchio , it is a marvellous sandy beach that connects Ansedonia to the Argentario Hill. It is a strip of sand long 7 km, positioned between the crystalline sea and the thriving pine forest of the Natural reserve with the same name. It is mainly a free beach but there are some beach resorts. The Tombolo della Feniglia can be reached from Ansedonia (10 minutes by car). It can be reached by foot and by bicycle: it is a marvellous walk in the middle of nature, where you can meet deer and where there are paths that lead directly to the beach. In the central part of tombolo the beach is almost deserted even during the high season.

ORBETELLO

Cute and lively little city 20 km from the home, it is on a peninsula surrounded by the lagoon. In the historical centre, usually quite full, there is a cinema, restaurants, bars, ice-cream shops and many other shopping places.

THE RIUNS OF THE CITY OF COSA

On the top of the Ansedonia promontory, 20 km from the farmhouse, you can visit the ruins of this ancient Roman colony founded in 272 BC. On the highest point you can also admire the splendid panorama of the Argentario.

MAGLIANO IN TUSCANY

At just a little more than 20 km from the home, Magliano in Tuscany withholds the ancient defence walls from which you can see the splendid panorama that goes down to the sea.

MONTE ARGENTARIO

20 minutes away by car from the Home, it is a promontory that is rich in natural beauty and where there are two maritime villages – Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano. We suggest a boat tour to discover the coast, a long walk along the panoramic road, a visit to the Spanish fortresses and the magnificent panorama that you can see from the Padri Passionisti Convent.
From Porto Santo Stefano you can also get the ferry for Giglio and Giannutri islands.
The Argentario Golf Club, 20 minutes away by car, has the title of 18-hole champion for a total of 6,218 metres and par 71.

GIGLIO AND GIANNUTRI ISLANDS

Giglio Island, which can be reached with 50 minutes of sailing from Porto S. Stefano, certainly deserves a visit: splendid beaches, uncontaminated nature and beautiful seabed for all scuba diving lovers.
Giannutri can be reached by about one hour of sailing from Porto Santo Stefano; as well as the beautiful seabed, you can find the ruins of an imperial Roman villa of the 2nd century AD. Most of the territory is protected; for visits we suggest that you contact the Park of the Tuscan Arcipelago.

SATURNIA / SATURNIA THERMAL CENTRE

It is about 40 minutes away from the la Dimora del Conicchio by car. It is a medieval village of Etruscan origin, with a natural thermal sulphuric water spring, that can be enjoyed within the Thermal centre, or at the picturesque waterfall situated just a little more along the valley.

MANCIANO

Medieval village situated at about 30 km from the home from which you can admire a panoramic view on the Tuscan Maremma.

SCANSANO

Distant 35 km from the home. It is known for its Morellino Wine DOCG.

MAREMMA NATURAL PARK

Can be reached by car in 50 minutes from the home, it is a park of 100 m2. It can be visited by foot, by horse or even in canoe.

SOVANA

Distant 45 km from the home, it is a village of Etruscan origin with important necropolis and mysterious Vie Cave.

PITIGLIANO

Village situated 50 km from the home, entirely dug on a spur of Tufa, it is of fascinating beauty.

PISA AND LUCCA

Can be easily visited in one day. The splendid art city of Pisa (210 km away) and Lucca (233 km away) can reached by car or by train.

VULCI AND TARQUINIA

Important archaeological sites that represent the heart of the Etruscan civilisation. Situated in Lazio they are respectively 35 and 40 km from the Home.
